At the Medical Device Technology Exhibition at the NEC last month, the inaugural National Medical and Healthcare Technology Awards, run by Medilink West Midlands and funded by Advantage West Midlands, honoured Kingswinford-based Clamason Industries Ltd.
Clamason received the prestigious “Growth in Sector” award (one of five categories) for its significant achievements in providing metal component solutions to the medical industry, with medical device applications having risen in two years from a negligible amount to over 30% of the company’s turnover, second in value only to its first-tier automotive engineering contracts.
With factories at Kingswinford and Nitra (Slovakia), Clamason makes pressed metal, precision parts for world-class medical devices that go well beyond the more obvious pressed scalpel blades, probes, pins, rods and implants. Clamason gives unmatched consistency of material, tolerance and surface finish over batches of millions produced at high speed. Applications can range from highly complex drugs delivery device assemblies (such as the Exubera powdered insulin inhaler for Pfizer) to electric scalpels and joint replacement componentry.

Medilink UK Chairman Kevin Wilson commented at the Award presentations :-
“It is tremendous that we have had so much interest and participation from our Medilink UK regions. These inaugural Medilink UK National Medical Technology Awards give national recognition to the excellent work being carried out by companies throughout our regions and demonstrates that the medical technology community continues to contribute significantly to the UK economy.”
