Welcome to Clamason Central Europe, a presswork facility in Nitra, a university town less than an hour from Bratislava, Slovakia.
The focus of OEM’s has migrated towards emerging markets especially with the on-going increases in oil prices making the far east more expensive, and the excellent transport links across the entire continent of Europe.
Managed locally by our English Technical Director, Nitra initially sub-contracted to the UK, providing final assembly, and JIT to our customers in the region. But in June 2010 the move to significantly larger premises plus extra equipment has enhanced local manufacturing, mirroring the UK with presses ranging from 10 to 160 tonnes. These include Bruderer, Seyi, Chin Fong and Bihler, offering an unrivalled range of manufacturing and assembly options.
In addition we have a five-station transfer press line with automatic transfer of individual pressings between stations by pick-and-place robots which has been successfully employed for the past two years manufacturing set top boxes, an application which is ideal for the equipment, and a core competence for Clamason.
In 2007-8 we made decoders for Top up TV via Thomson for later assembly in Southwest France, Sky+ boxes also for Thomson and Panasonic for assembly in Hungary by Flextronic, and in 2008-9 SkyHD boxes for assembly by Celestica in Romania. All are excellent examples not only of the flexibility of our process, but also the ideal nature of our location.
Other examples of our work in Nitra include the final assembly of housings for in-car entertainment, pressings for automotive lighting systems, insert moulded horn buttons, GPS antennae, wiring harnesses, and ladder tops.
Clamason Slovakia occupies a 2,230 square metre factory with full manufacturing, degreasing, secondary operation, and printing on site and is an ideal production facility to take advantage of a lower cost environment whilst still benefiting from local technical support.
